FAQ

Do you have to refrigerate nut butters after opening?

Storing our butters in the fridge will prolong their quality, but it makes them hard to spread. Unrefrigerated, they will harden over time due to the naturally occurring oil. We suggest storing in a cool dark place for easiest use.

How long can I store your products for?

We recommend you keep to the Best Before date printed on our jar.

Are your products kosher?

Yes. We are certified by the Kashruth Council of Canada.

Are your products non-GMO?

Yes. We do not accept GMO nuts and seeds from our suppliers.

Are your products made in Canada?

Yes. We have been proudly manufacturing all our products in Ontario, Canada since 1989!

Why is there oil on top of the product?

Nuts and seeds contain 44–60% oil depending on the variety. Because we don’t stabilize our product with hydrogenated or tropical fat, the naturally occurring oil will separate and rise to the top in a warm environment. Just stir the oil back in and enjoy!

What does “certified organic” mean?

“Certified organic” refers to a system of agriculture standardized and certified by a third party organization under the supervision of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Our organic products are certified by Centre for Systems Integration (CSI).

How do you roast your nuts and seeds?

All our nuts and seeds are dry-roasted. We never use oil for roasting.

Why are there black specks in your tahini products?

The black speck is the point of new germination on the sesame seed. Often sesame seeds are bleached so that this spot doesn’t show in the tahini. We do not use sesame seeds that are bleached in our tahini.

Can I buy your products directly from the factory?

Unfortunately, no. But we are very widely distributed across Canada. Find us at your local natural food store, fruit market, specialty food shop, grocery store, or online retailer.

How can I tell the Best Before date?

The Best Before date is printed between the label and the cap on the glass portion of the jar. For example, BB/MA OC 26 24 refers to the best before date of October 26th, 2024. (BB/MA = Best Before/meilleur avant)

Are your products gluten free?

Yes. We do not use any ingredients with gluten in our facility.

Are your products allergy free?

No. During manufacturing, there is a chance of cross-contamination with other nuts and/or seeds. People with allergies to peanuts, nuts, or seeds should not eat our products.

Are your empty containers recyclable?

Yes. Our products are packaged in glass jars with metal lids which are accepted in most community recycling programs across Canada. Be sure to carefully wash the empty jar and lid before recycling. All our packaging is BPA free.

Can I buy your products in the U.S.A.?

At this time, we only sell our products in Canada.
