Nutty Apple Crumble
Our Nuts to You apple crumble offers a rich, deep, nutty note while reducing the amount of butter used in the topping. You’ll love what the flavour of roasted almonds and cashews lends to this fall favourite. Nuts to You Almond Butter, Hazelnut Butter, and Almond Hazelnut Butter all make delicious substitutes.
INGREDIENTS
¾ cup flour of choice
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup brown sugar
Pinch of salt
¼ cup butter or coconut oil, room temperature
¼ cup Nuts to You Almond Cashew Butter
4 to 6 large apples
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp vanilla
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350⁰F. Grease a 9” x 9” glass or ceramic baking dish or a 9” pie plate.
Combine flour, oats, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add butter or coconut oil and Almond Cashew Butter. Mix with a fork until a coarse crumble is formed. Set aside.
Peel and core the apples, then cut into ½ inch slices. Toss with apple cider vinegar, cinnamon and vanilla, and arrange in the baking dish. Add the crumble over the apples evenly, breaking up any large chunks in your hands.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until the apples are soft and the crumble is golden brown and crisp.
Delicious served warm or at room temperature with ice cream, whipped cream, or simply on its own.
